Name:
Fanni Nicoll
Role:
Student Trustee
What this role involves:
The Board of Trustees are responsible for the running of the Association's affairs and ensuring the Association is compliant with the financial and legal obligations it has as an organisation.
My priorities for this term:
To be a full member of the Trustee Board, overseeing the Association as a charity and supporting the work of the student leadership team.
What I’ve been up to and what I’m currently working on:
I have taken part in training and getting to grips with the role of a trustee member as we look forward to our first meeting of the term.
What I'm studying:
BA (Hons) Business Management degree.
What I do when I’m not studying:
I have just recently become a full-time employee of The Open University, working on student consultations, so I’m getting to grips with a whole new job! In my free time I do a lot of reading, exploring out in nature across the whole of the UK and recently became a pet mum to two rescued cats.
My top study tips:
It’s a marathon, not a sprint. You aren’t competing against other people and you should take things at your own pace and do an intensity you are actually comfortable with, rather than spending every spare minute on studying. Wellbeing is so important and going slow and steady will actually often get you to your end goal quicker. Also, make sure you find OU friends along the way. OU study can feel like an isolating experience, so make sure you have some study buddies to share the journey with.
