From the 1-7 June, organisations across the UK celebrate Volunteers Week, to acknowledge and recognise the incredible contributions volunteers make in their roles.

We want to take this time to celebrate and say thanks for all the hard work you put in as an Association volunteer. Your dedication to and passion for your role means the Association can provide a variety of services for students, and continue to flourish and become the best it can be for all involved.

The impact you have across a variety of areas including student communities, OU spaces, Association projects and every place in between is unmatched, and with over 200 students offering their time to volunteering, there's no end to the everylasting impact you are making for OU students.

The Association's Head of Volunteering and Representation Allan Musinguzi would like to extend his thanks with a few words for you.

‘In a day and age where time is a precious commodity, it is important that we recognise our volunteers who relentlessly render their time to volunteer on several roles across the student association. Volunteers are a big part of the Student Association, and we greatly appreciate their involvement.

As we celebrate volunteer week, I want to take this opportunity to extend our appreciation for all the work that you do which makes a difference to the overall student experience.

Many students that come to the Open University will have a positive experience because of your commitment to the volunteer roles you perform. We thank you for your generosity and dedication and are humbled by your commitment to serve even with all the added responsibilities that you already hold like being students, parents, carers, and working full time just to mention but a few. As beneficiaries of your time, talents, skills, and expertise we say thank you, thank you, thank you for all that you do!'

There will be much more content and announcements across our website and social media over the next week, so please get involved and share your volunteer role proudly this week and every week! Feel free to share the icon below on your social media channels and forums and proudly wear your volunteer title with pride!

Volunteer stories

During Volunteers Week, we are relaunching the Volunteer Stories platform, a space for you to share your story as an Association volunteer. We believe that volunteering is an incredibly rewarding experience, and we want to provide a platform for volunteers to share their stories, celebrate their achievements and inspire others to get involved.

By sharing your volunteer story, you can showcase the impact that volunteering has had on your life and what you have been involved with. Whether you volunteered for a few hours, weeks, or even years, your experience can provide valuable insights into the joys, challenges, and rewards of volunteering.

Your story can also serve as a guide for those who are interested in volunteering but are unsure of where to start or what to expect. You can help others gain a better understanding of the different types of volunteering opportunities available, the skills and qualities needed to be a successful volunteer, and the potential impact they can have.

Share your story here and create your volunteering legacy
