Overview

This is a Microsoft TEAMS virtual reading and sharing Body Doubling session (a helpful method to get stuff done!)

This is suitable for students who are reading at the moment, for reading and note-taking motivation/accountability. There will also be an opportunity to share with others, which will support you to memorise what you have read. The host will decide whether we will use the Pomodoro technique (20mins of silent work broken by a 5min break X 2) or play it by ear once the session is ready to begin.

🔹 What is Body Doubling? 🔹
• Body doubling is a tool people use to help them start and complete projects. A body double is a partner who works simultaneously, either in the same room or virtually.
• Body doubling is when you complete tasks in the presence of another person. A body double acts as an external motivator to help people to stay on task.
• You and your body double/s do not need to be working on the same task.
• Body doubling works with 2+ people.

🔹 Everyone is free to: 🔹
• Move and come back when you’re ready.
• Turn off your camera for any reason, and back on again when you’re ready (It is best to have it on as much as possible so that your partner knows you’re there for the motivational aspect - the point of body doubling, but we all know…life! And if you cannot use your camera at all, then that’s fine too. We can still work in this way, the camera is just preferable for body doubling.
• Leave the call (again…life!) Please do try and let your partner know that you need to leave if there’s only 2 of you on the call.
• Have your mic on/off, say hello, share what you’re working on/goals for the session, but mute your mic during silent working, and back on again at the end if you wish to share your accomplishments and give support.
• Be silent the whole time.
• Have a break.
