My name is Gaurang Ghare and I am extremely excited to commence my role as the Chair of the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Committee. I have been studying with the OU since October 2017, at first, as a student enrolled on the BSc Honours in Mathematics and Statistics degree programme. After completing that qualification in July 2021, I moved to Scotland to pursue a postgraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh. Now I am back again at the OU, pursuing yet another postgraduate degree, this time specifically, an MSc in Space Science and Technology in addition to an MSc in Management at Católica Porto Business School whilst residing in Porto, Portugal.
Throughout these past few years, I have formally engaged with the OU, volunteering as a Student Consultant on the Mathematics and Statistics Board of Studies as well as being present on the Curriculum Design Student Panel, twice; in the academic years of 2020-21 & 2022-23. I have as well been a part of the Student Senate Reference group since October 2023. The aptitudes that I have cultivated during my tenure within each of these committees will be duly employed in my present capacity as the Chair of the BAME Committee within the OU Students Association. With an even greater zeal, I anticipate persisting in my collaborative efforts, meticulously coordinating with my fellow committee members, other committees and the student populace, whilst tirelessly endeavouring to generate a much-needed transformative change.
