Role summary
This nomination is for standing as a candidate for the Chair position in the upcoming Group Committee elections. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Committee and to the Group in creating a student community and improving the representation of disabled students at the OU.

Working closely with Vice-Chair to share managerial tasks

Coordinating and delegating tasks to other Committee members

Empowering Committee members by identifying support needs and communicating these to Association staff

Ensuring the Committee and members of the Group adhere to relevant OU and Association rules and regulations

Maintaining a safe environment for the Committee and members to participate in discussions

Producing a quarterly report on the work and impact of the Group to the Student Leadership team

Representing the Group in an official capacity at the OU and the Students Association by making public announcements and attending or taking part in events

Liaising with Association staff, the Student Leadership Team, the relevant OU’s staff networks and other student-led Support Groups to collaboratively drive forward improvements related to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion nd to address intersectionalities among students
To nominate yourself, you must be a member of the Students Association to apply (all registered OU students are automatically members according to our Articles of Association).

Students who join Support Groups can feel less isolated and feel more empowered to make their voice heard. Students can make friends, benefit from informal student-to-student support and have fun!
Hours per week
Up to 5 hours per week (up to 10 hours in busier periods) until 31 December 2024.

Four online induction and training sessions run in MS Teams
Mandatory e-learning modules and online self-study core training for volunteers
Opportunities for optional personal development training
Location
This role is mainly online with occasional face-to-face events/activities with prior arrangement.
