Hello everyone.
I am Marli, your new Chair! I am 26 and currently serving in the Royal Navy as an Aircraft Engineer. I have served for nearly ten years, but only have a couple of months left, when I will be leaving to pursue a career in sports and physiotherapy. I am studying a BSc in sports, and I am in my second year.
My partner Grace and live in Portsmouth and love exploring new things and new places!
I love rugby and I am so excited for the Six Nations to start up again! I am a rugby coach to a wonderful under 14s girls rugby team, and they make me so proud!
I also have a strong passion for photography, so when I’m not studying, working or coaching, you can catch me out and about with my camera!
I have been a member of the Royal Navy LGBTQ+ network for a number of years, and have taken part in numerous Pride events and networking events, thanks to this.
I cannot wait to get to know you all some more at events, and representing you all as your Chair during my appointed term.
If anyone has any questions, needs support or just wants a chat, my inbox is always open!
My top 3 goals as Chair are:
- To create a safe, secure and inclusive culture for all students within the OU, by liaising with BAME and DSG. I want to ensure that everyone feels represented and listened to.
- For the committee to host some amazing Pride events and meet-ups, and also to host external networks for education and support for all OU Pride members.
- To meet like-minded people within the OU community, and get the most from my university experience!
