My name is Steve Cummins and I have been elected as your Vice-Chair for the 2023-24 term. I am currently halfway through a six year part-time degree studying Law.
Outside of my Open University life, I work as a Corporate Governance Manager for the NHS, with a background in Local Government and Education. In my spare time, I also run a LGBTQIA+ Walking Group, and Chair a local charity; supporting an experimental archaeological farm with a focus on education and research, testing theories about ancient technology, building techniques and the way of life of people living in the Stone Age, Iron Age, Roman and Anglo Saxon periods.
I live in a rural town in Hampshire and appreciate the importance of connections within the LGBTQIA+ Community. As an HIV positive man since 2006, I have regular lived experience of stigma and discrimination and understand the need to establish a safe space and these are the things I want to support and encourage during my term as your Vice-Chair.
