A team of Open University students impressed in their first-round match of University Challenge Series 31, which aired on Monday 19 August at 8.30pm (BST).

UCL took an early lead with the first correct starter question, but Open quickly got going and lead for the rest of the match. Open won by 190 points to UCL's 175. You can catch up on the match on iPlayer if you are in the UK.

Team Open's impressive win means they automatically go through to the second round, which will air from December 2024.

Karie (studying Art History), Hector (studying MSc in Finance), Nicky (studying Natural Sciences), Tom (studying Physics), and reserve member Ashara (studying History) comprise the brilliant Team Open.
