Team Open will be looking to hold their place in the quarter-finals.
Team Open have reached the quarter-finals of University Challenge Series 31. They will play their second quarter-final match on Monday 31 March, 8.30pm (BST) on BBC Two.
Despite an impressive performance in their first quarter-final on 3 March, Open lost to a strong Bristol team, 95 points to 135. This means they must win their second quarter-final match to stay in the competition and face a third and final quarter-final match for a place in the semi-finals. If they lose their second quarter-final, they will be knocked out of the competition.
Their run so far in the competition has been as follows:
- First round, 19 August 2024: Open - 190, UCL - 175
- Second round, 9 December 2024: Open - 180, Durham - 115
- First quarter-final, 3 March 2025: Open - 90, Bristol - 135
The team includes Karie (studying Art History), Hector (studying MSc in Finance), Nicky (studying Natural Sciences), Tom (studying Physics), and reserve member Ashara (studying History).
