Since January 2019, Library Study Volunteers (LSVs) have done a fantastic job providing research for students in secure environments (SiSE). Prior to the appointment of LSVs, students in secure environments (who don’t have access to the Open University Library or online research) had to rely on a nominated person to do this if they could find one.
Up to the end of May 2023:
- 442 requests have been fulfilled
- 2,472 resources sent out to students
- 53 different volunteers have participated since the beginning.
Feedback from SiSE students:
“Thank you for sending out this new service for OU study research. I am very grateful that this is a viable support to my learning. I wish you the very best of health wealth, joy and spirit and look forward to receiving the response to my requests.”?
“Without the materials – articles, reports, etc. I would not be able to progress with my research”
“This has enabled me to apply my studies to issues in the wider world.”
“I really appreciate your help, so thank you.”
Excellent work, volunteers – thank you!
(We’ll be recruiting more LSVs this summer – anyone who is interested, please keep an eye on our volunteering vacancies.)
