Name:
Kelly Coker
My role:
Vice President Student Representation
My priorities for this term:
My priorities for this term are to do my best to make a positive impact for students. I am still learning about many aspects of my role at the moment so I am sure with time more specific priorities will come to light.
What I’ve been up to and what I’m currently working on:
I have been learning about all different aspects of my role and about the Student Leadership Team in general. I have signed up to help with the Hoot online magazine which is always a good read, I would absolutely recommend checking it out if you haven't already. I have also put myself forward to help with supporting neurodiverse students as well as trans students, both of which are very important to me.
What I'm studying:
I am currently studying BSc (Honours) Physics BSc.
What I do when I’m not studying:
When I am not studying I absolutely love a bit of gaming time, my gaming laptop is my favourite thing by far. I love a good TV series binge and watching some films. I am also a collector of coins and Pokémon cards. I do some diamond painting every now and then as well.
My top study tips:
Find what works for you. We are all different in how we learn and what works for one may not work for another. Therefore, especially when being out of study for a while, it is great to test out different methods to see what works for you the best. I would personally be completely lost without my daily planner, I also like to utilise the OU's study sessions, sitting in an Adobe Connect room with my peers while we all quietly work away is helpful to me for getting quite a bit done, outside of that apps such as Forest and other similar timer apps are very helpful for shorter study periods.
