This opportunity is for the Events Officer and the successful recruit will plan and deliver events that create a sense of community for members in the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Students Group.
As Events Officer, you will work with the Committee in helping to deliver the agreed strategy for the Group. Your duties will include, but are not limited to (depending on the agreed strategy of the Committee):

Developing ideas for events in partnership with the Group Committee.

Planning and delivering events for the Group by taking on an Events and Meet up host role.

Collaborating with the Secretary and Communications Officer on timelines for events.

Working with the Communications Officer to ensure the Group membership is kept informed on events.

Collaborating closely with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Rep to create BAME focused events.

Encouraging members to suggest ideas for events and to actively participate.

Ensuring events are accessible.

Maintaining a safe environment for members to participate in discussions.

Regularly reviewing events by gathering feedback from the Committee and Group members.

Liaising with Association staff, the Student Leadership Team and other student-led Support Groups to collaboratively drive forward improvements related to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and to address intersectionalities among students.

Working with the Communications Officer to moderate the Group’s online platforms.

Hours per week
Up to 5 hours per week (up to 10 hours in busier periods) until 31/12/2024.
Training available
Mixture of online induction sessions delivered via Teams as well as online self-study modules to complete. Covering Welcome sessions, Event and Meet-up Hosting and Accessibility, Safeguarding, GDPR.
Location
This role is mainly online with occasional face-to-face events/activities with prior arrangement.
