Join the Arts and Humanities Society for this interesting session led by Dr Ardle MacMahon.
The purpose of this presentation is to look at the physical remains of the theatre in Pompeii in an attempt to place these into the social, political and wider context of the settlement of Pompeii. As the emphasis is on the physical and visible remains, the lecture will not deal in detail with specific plays as evidence is lacking but on the setting in which such events took place. This talk is linked to the Classical Studies modules A229 Exploring the Classical World and A340 the Roman Empire but is open to anyone broadly interested in Classical Studies, Pompeii and ancient theatre. There will be an opportunity for Q&A after the presentation.
