Hurdle for Student Loan applications.

Okay, Student Loan Form Uk undergraduate, part-time loan form asks for two people to be added, so their names and addresses and phone numbers, this form is very important because it could get you your student loan and then you can study. Yeh! But what if you have no people to put on this form, estranged family, no friends, no support? Does this mean you can not STUDY? Study is supposed to be for everyone. Suddenly, the door to STUDY is closing. But is it true ? Your loan will not be processed. Your study is finished. Or is there a page that helps people in this situation? Guidance please ?

Robin Long: 9:02pm on 12 Nov 23 I fully support the OP's comments as more and more seek assistance it's would be a progressive step for education institutions to challenge the lack of apparent adaptability with regards to financing systems that are at best dated and worst not really fit for purpose. This is one of a multitude of areas that local and national governments have failed to address. I can't speak for the English systems but the Student Awards Agency Scotland is equally guilty of failure to provide easy access to information such as the OP has queried, there websites often host out of date or inaccurate information and usually accompanied by a search systems which is incompetent.

I had to fill in my form and I could not think of anyone since my family lives abroad, a colleague agreed to help me, but it caused me a lot of stress thinking that I could not study because I did not have any one to put on this form. In my opinion, this needs to change.

When you try to take this up with the OU or with Student Finance you end up with each one blaming the other side and no-one helping you at all. With OU student loans the money goes directly to the OU, it does not go to the student to pay to the OU. Where I can understand that if money was paid directly to the student, Student Finance might want to be able to chase the money if it was not paid to the university or if something happened (fatally?) to the student. But where money is paid directly to the university why does Student Finance need anyone else's details. I think the OU should be far more supportive with regards to this issue.
